We also watched a little but if the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics and we git to see the Irish team entering the stadium.

Week of 17th January – Another busy week in and out of the classroom. We danced, ran and created. We worked on projects about The Winter and we learned a lot of interesting facts. We preaented out work to our classmates on Friday.

We have been very busy in Rang a Trí since our return on 6th January. We have been moving more in the classroom and getting outdoors for more exercise. On Friday, we went for a walk to Ros Ard and exploring the Sensory Garden too. We even found a ladybird

Drámaoíocht… We did some improvised drama in the classroom and had great fun creating short pieces from just a sentence on a card…

For SPHE we had a look at things we are grateful for and we remind ourselves as often as we can about these special things

We participated in a Wellbeing Webinar with 800 schools from around the country in Friday 14th January. It was presented by Fiona Forman and we really enjoyed it.

Rang a Trí have been working on a winter theme which included poetry writing and printing. We will continue this theme for January. Here are our completed snow globes combining drawing, printing, colouring and assembling.

22-12-21…CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS

For our final day we started the morning with a table quiz and came up with Christmas names for our teams. Then we had a bumper Christmas raffle…everyone was a winner 😀Today the school took part in Christmas Jumper day for two charities so we had our jumpers for that. Then we sang along with the video of our Christmas concert. After yard time we watched a movie.
HAPPY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE 🎄🎅🏻

21-12-12… The Panto came to Upper Glanmire…Virtually 😀

The children enjoyed the Panto presented by the Helix theatre in Dublin. It was a super production with lively songs and good laughs throughout. We also enjoyed a hot chocolate as a treat for the day. Thanks to the Parents Association for funding the streaming of the Panto 👍

Other activities… we had great fun in the morning with Biongó to help revise vocabulary in Gaeilge and practising phrases of what we would like for Christmas.

We also designed our own Christmas cards which turned out fantastic.

20-12-2021 CHRISTMAS WALK …We started today with a walk. We left the school grounds and headed down the hill to Ros Árd. We walked around the lower park and up through the path through the trees in the middle park. It was a very cold morning but we quickly warmed up, especially walking back up the hill to the school. Here are some photos of our rambles…

CRIB SERVICE …Today we also participated in a crib service which was recorded for the parish website and will be aired for Christmas. Our class did readings, sang songs and placed the statue of the Baby Jesus in the crib.

TALENT SHOW…We also find time for a mini talent show before the day was over. There fun displays of dancing, great singing and wonderful acting. Great talent in the class.

We have lots more planned for the last few days of school for 2021 so watch this space…

🔭☂️🌬🤚🏻Samhain … November 🤚🏻🌬☂️🔭

End of November…

A busy month in the classroom with lots of learning and fun had along the way. We started working on clay pieces with the theme of Christmas. we also completed some ‘Funky Reindeer’ in preparation for the season ahead 😀 In SPHE, we were learning how we are all unique and we took the lesson outdoors to do a ‘people hunt’ to find out more about our classmates. A nice way to get to know everyone a bit better.

WEEK 2… 💡 🔬🚰🔍🔭SCIENCE WEEK 2021 – Seachtain na hEolaíochta 🔍🚰🔬🔭💡

This week we learned a lot about different areas of science. We did experiments, watched videos of experiments and participated in a live zoom with Peter Wright in the Wonderstruck Show. In this, we got to see Peter carry out various experiments using hydrogen… all strictly not to be tried at home but fun to watch and learn about. On Friday we had a science day and tried out various STEM activities working with forces, static electricity, engineering, designing and testing. There was great excitement in the classroom. Here are some photos and videos of our activities.
