As we set off today on our school tour to Ballyhass Lakes, I would like to thank my amazing students for a great year. I wish you all the best in sixth class, no doubt you will all continue to strive!

Floristry 101 in Fifth Class!
Our SNA Samantha ran a beginner floristry lesson in fifth class this week. The students learned the basics of floristry and tried their hand at bouquet-making! They each created an oasis arrangement and the results were beautiful!

Talent Fever Strikes at UGNS!
Fifth class has certainly got talent! Well done to all our acts for their participation and thanks to our wonderful presenters Sophie and Kate!
Can You Solve a Rubik’s Cube?
Well, two of our students can! Below is a video of Bobby and Michael solving a rubik’s cube. Their personal best times are; Bobby 53 seconds and Michael 51 seconds! You’ll have to see it to believe it!
Tag Rugby!
Our boys and girls in 5th class have been enjoying learning tag rugby. They participated in a non-competitive tag rugby in Old Christian’s. A great day was had by all!

Sciath na Scol at UGNS!
Congratulations and well done to the fifth and sixth students of UGNS for their participation in Sciath na Scol 2017-2018. Their hard work, dedication and interest in sport has made them excellent role models for the school. Well done!

A massive well done to Abbie Garde and Gráinne Sneddon who won the Food Dudes competition with their rap! Also, well done to Kate Manley, Adam O’ Connor and Sophie McCabe who were all winners as part of the Cork Heritage Project. Well done!!
Budding Journalists in Fifth Class!
Some fifth class students (pictured below) decided to establish a the Fifth Class News Association! They aim to publish as many editions of the Fifth Class Newspaper as possible this year. The newspaper, which is read by staff and students alike, is filled with breaking news stories, advice columns, competitions, quizzes and much more. Well done to Conor Culinane, Sophie McCabe, Kate Manley and Abbie Garde for all their hard work!
Dragon’s Den in Rang a Cúig!
Congratulations to our fifth class students who received the Bank of Ireland Enterprise Town Student Award for their participation in BizWorld! During BizWorld, the students created a product that would help society in some way. They also developed a business plan and pitched the idea to a Dragon! The students created excellent products and impressive business plans. Ideas such as light up backpacks, home gym/fitness apps and homeless outreach initiatives to name but a few! I’m sure we’ll see them on Dragon’s Den in no time! Well done fifth class!
