During November and December Third Class explored the genre of parody. We read several parodies of traditional fairy tales. Little Red by Bethan Woollvin gave Little Red Riding Hood a twist and The Wolf’s Story told the story from the wolf’s perspective. The Stinky Cheeseman by Jon Scieszka and Lane Smith remixed lots of fairy tale characters and stories in a humorous way and Into the Forest by Anthony Browne referenced many different fairy tales and characters in a more serious way.
After this, the children worked in groups, pairs or individually to write their own parodies for our friends in Ms. Carney’s First Class. See pictures below of the very creative and dramatic results!
