Friday 5/2/’21
Good morning everyone,
Third Class, it was lovely to see some of you on your Thursday Zoom this week. Thank you again for taking the time to connect with your friends and teachers. Fourth Class, we will have our Zoom call at 12pm today. I have already sent a message on Aladdin, along with the invitation to your parents. Send me an email if you did not receive it. Like last week, this Zoom will be for 4th class only.
To those of you who have submitted your projects, well done. I’ve learned a lot already and I look forward to seeing more today and early next week.
Have a good day,
Ms. Flanagan
Test
Both Classes
Today we will start with a test as we usually do on a Friday. Take out your January Copy and rule it as you would for a test. Over the first column write Gaeilge and on the other write English. Test yourself on the 12 Irish and 10 English spellings that you learned this week using the Look, Say, Write, Cover, Check method. First look at the word and say it, next, cover it up. Try to write it. Now check to see if you got it right. If you did, give yourself a tick. If not, try again. Everyone should get full marks this week, if it takes a few tries that is quite alright.
3rd Class
To test your tables use this speed test. https://www.timestables.com/speed-test/
You can click on 3, 6 and 9 as these were the tables we were working on this week. How quickly can you answer 20 questions? They will ask you the tables this way 12×3= but may also switch the numbers around like this 3×12= but as you know, multiplication is commutative so the answer is the same whichever number comes first.
In your Table Toppers, do the Revision 8 section on p.21 which has a mixture of the tables you have worked on this week.
4th Class
To test your tables use this website http://www.timestables.me.uk/ again. Click on ‘divide by’, click on 3, 6 and 9 and press start. They will ask you some of your division tables from this week and they will switch some around. Can you get 10 /10? Send me a screenshot of your score and time!

3rd Class:
- Here are the answers to yesterday’s MYM. Do not do the test today, we will catch up with those when we return to school.
- This week you learned about 3D shapes. You learned about two new shapes- a triangular prism and a pyramid and about the properties of 3D shapes- edges, faces and vertices. Today do p. 156 B and C in your copy. Now take a look at E and see if you can figure it out (no need to write this). Try the quiz below. Click on slideshow, then click on From Beginning. Name the shape before you click to see the answer!
4th Class:
- Here are the answers to yesterday’s MYM. Do not do the test today, we will catch up with those when we return to school.
- This week you learned about 3D shapes. You learned the names of different 3D shapes and what their nets look like. Some of you constructed 3D shapes from their nets. You learned about the properties and different types of prisms and pyramids. Today you are going to try drawing 3D shapes. First watch the video below. Then have go at drawing some of the shapes. Poetry: Here are two poems that were written about two very different hobbies. Click into each poster and go straight to the poem. Listen to both. Let me know in your email today which one you prefer and why. Have a go at writing your own poem about a hobby that you enjoy. Start it today but you can think about it and work on it over the weekend or next week and send it to me when you are ready.
The poem above is called The Cancan. The Cancan is a famous, high energy dance with lots of high kicks. Click here to listen to the Cancan- get up and dance if you like!
The following poem is about another hobby that I know some of you enjoy.
Art
Today we are going to explore the Fabric and Fibre strand. There are two options that you can choose from for this.
- Make a picture using clothes: Simply create a picture using clothes instead of crayons or paints. Then photograph your creation. Watch the video to show you how to choose the best clothes for your creation.
https://watchkin.com/ab4dfd77e1
Here are some photos of finished creations to inspire you. Make sure you put all of the clothes away neatly when you are finished!
- If you have some old clothes that you can cut up or some fabric scraps, you could make some clothes for a teddy or doll or glue the scraps to a sheet of card to make a picture. Make sure you ask permission before cutting anything!!! Here are pictures of some creations that children from 3rd and 4th class have made in previous years.
Have a lovely weekend!
Thursday 4/2/’21
Good morning again everyone,
I hope you are all well and thank you once again for your continued engagement with myself, Ms. Barrett and Ms. Daly. I hope to see some of the 3rd class on the Zoom meeting later today. I sent the invitation on Aladdin yesterday. If you have not received it let me know via email and I will forward it on. As always, I totally understand if your child cannot make the meeting this week. 4th class, I will see you tomorrow on Zoom, if you can make it. I will be sending an invitation via Aladdin to your parents later today.
Kind regards,
Ms. Flanagan

- Both classes can continue to practise Comhrá today. Maybe you could try some of the phrases that you learned this week, without using your copy. It is important that you do this out loud and with a friend or family member if possible. I will attach links to the sheet in case you haven’t been able to print it and to the videos from Tuesday and Wednesday to help you.
3rd Class:
- Go to Fuaimeanna & Focail Unit 17 and complete all of p. 54 today. Use the ‘Féach, Abair, Clúdaigh, Scríobh agus Seiceáil’ method to test yourself at the end of p. 54.
- Before you do today’s written activity, play this game to remind you of the names of the colours in Irish. Let me know if you were able to get them all right and how quickly you did it! There are some tricky ones in there so it might take a few tries.
- Have a look at p. 93 in Abair Liom. You can do Section C today. Remember B’fhearr liom = I would prefer
4th Class:

- For SPHE this week, why not try some yoga? People enjoy doing yoga for many reasons. Some people find it helps them to relax their bodies and minds. It can increase your strength and flexibility. It can also help with concentration. There are two options below. Each video takes around 15 mins. Enjoy, and if you like, you could send me a picture or video.
Cosmic Kids Yoga Squish the Fish
- This week take a look at your Grow in Love book p. 49-51 and read about how people respond to God’s call to make the world a better, fairer place. 4th class, this ties in with your Starlight reading from this week where you learned about the good work that Trocaire does all over the world. If you haven’t already, you can access the Grow in Love resources (instructions below). Click on 3rd class, Theme 5 and then Lesson 4. Watch the video about how volunteers can make the world a better place. Think about how you can help make the world a better place.

Good morning to you all,
I had hoped that we might be back in the classroom this morning, but we must remain at home to keep each other, and the wider community, safe and sound. I know that you all have been working very hard and that your parents have been supporting you and helping with your learning as well as looking after all of their other responsibilities. You can make it a little easier by spending some time in the morning reading through the work and getting your copies, workbooks and books ready. If you spend some time getting organised, you will get through the work much more quickly. Do whatever you can independently (clicking on the videos and resources for guidance) then ask for help at a time that suits your parents if you need it. You can also ask me, Ms. Barrett or Ms. Daly for help via email (depending on who you are submitting your work to). My email address is c.flanagan@upperglanmirens.ie, Ms. Barrett’s is p.barrett@upperglanmirens.ie and Ms. Daly’s is i.daly@upperglanmirens.ie. I have sent your parents a message on Aladdin this morning to remind them of which teacher to submit your work to.
Have a good day today,
Ms. Flanagan

Spellings for both classes
- Here are this weeks’ 10 words from your sheet of 100 commonly misspelled words.
Woman, animals, started, that’s, would, said, wanted, bear, from, frightened
That’s is a contraction of that is– the apostrophe replaces the i in is.
Would and wood are homophones so are bear and bare. These are words that sound the same but have different meanings and spellings. Use your dictionary to make sure you know which one you are learning this week!
Said is a tricky word as it is spelled differently than it sounds. Watch this short video to learn about mnemonics and how you can use one to remember how to spell said. Can you remember the mnemonic that helps us to spell because?
3rd Class
- Go to Starlight, Unit 10b which you will find on p.116. This is a report as was last week’s piece. Your SESE project will also be a report, containing lots of facts about the country you have chosen. Read p.116-118. Read some of the piece out loud for someone at home. If there are any words that you do not understand, use your dictionary to help.
- Complete E on p. 120. You learned about pronouns last week too. Read the instructions carefully and write pronouns that belong in the sentences in the first part (word only). Then write out the paragraph, underlining the pronouns you have put in.

Religion/ Art
February 1st is the feast of St. Brigid and, in Ireland, it is often considered the first day of Spring. You might like to say the following prayer with your family today or see how to make a St. Brigid’s Cross below.
Here are two different ways to make a St. Brigid’s Cross. For one you need straws and for the other newspaper. If there are rushes near your house, you could follow the straw instructions and make a traditional St. Brigid’s Cross. If you manage to make a cross, I would love to see a photo.

Good morning everyone,
Third Class, it was lovely to see some of you on your Thursday Zoom this week. Thank you for taking the time to connect with your friends and teachers. Don’t worry Fourth Class, I haven’t forgotten about you, we will have our Zoom call at 12pm today. I have already sent a message on Aladdin, along with the invitation, to your parents. Send me an email if you did not receive it. This Zoom will be for 4th class only which will give us some extra chatting time so if there is something you would like to tell the class, or a specific friend about or if you have a question for anybody, this is your opportunity.
Today we will start with a test just like we would in school on a Friday. Take out your January Copy and rule it as you would for a test. Over the first column write Gaeilge (watch the spelling) and on the other write English.
3rd Class
To test your tables use this website https://www.mathsisfun.com/timestable.html
In your Table Toppers, do test 8 on p.61
4th Class
To test your tables use this website http://www.timestables.me.uk/ Click on ‘divide by’, click on ‘9’ and press start. Can you get 10 /10? I think 7.14 seconds was the final record for counting back from 108 this week!

Usually, I post some work and ideas for Religion on Thursday and I will do so tomorrow. However, I wanted to let you know that today is Grandparents Day. Maybe today you could call or write a card or letter to one of your grandparents. If any of your grandparents have died, you could light a candle for them today, say a little prayer and either think about some happy memories you have about them or ask your parents to tell you more about them. I will be thinking about my grandparents today too. Here is a picture of my Nana and I when I was about your age. We called her Nana Westport because she lived in Westport, Co. Mayo!
If you would like to share a photo of you with your grandparents or any nice stories you have about them, I would love to see and hear them. Let me know if I have your permission to share your pictures with the class tomorrow.

25/1/’21
Good morning again everyone,
Welcome to week 3 of online learning and well done to you all for taking part last week. Each day this week, you will be expected to do some work in Irish, English and Maths. This will be followed by some work in one other area. Every day read through the work and decide what you would like to do first. Spend some time getting organised before you get started. Work carefully through each task, taking breaks when needed for a run around, a chat or a snack. Some of the work is for both classes and some is marked ‘3rd Class’ or ‘4th Class’ and sometimes I will ask you to do a task from the book orally rather than writing it in your copy, so read the instructions carefully. I have added some links and videos that might help. My email address is c.flanagan@upperglanmirens.ie and you or your parents can email me or your assigned teacher (Ms. Barrett or Ms. Daly) your work for help or feedback.
Keep up the good work this week,
Ms. Flanagan
Irish:
Both Classes:
- We will continue with the theme of Siopadóireacht this week. You can split the vocabulary on the second half of your Siopadóireacht sheet into four parts. This will give you eight words to learn each day. Don’t worry too much about the spellings of these but you should be able to say them and know what they mean.
Clic anseo for help with pronounciation of the first eight words and phrases.
3rd Class:
- Read through page 80 of Abair Liom at least 3 times. Answer the questions orally as best you can. Choose 2 that you feel confident with to write in your copy. You can do all 6 if you would like the challenge!
See the photo below for some help with the questions.
- As we did Unit 15 in F+F coming up to Christmas we will move on to Unit 16 this week and complete activities A and B today. See translations below. Learn the first 4 spellings today.
4th Class:
- Read through page 80 of Abair Liom at least 3 times. Answer the questions orally as best you can. Choose 2 that you feel confident with to write in your copy. You can do all 6 if you would like the challenge! This piece is in the Aimsir Chaite (past tense) as it is about an event that happened in the past. Remember your question words. Cá ndeachaigh? = Where did they go? / Cén siopa = Which shop? / Cad = What? / Cé = Who / Cén t-am den bhliain? = What time of year?
- As you did Unit 15 in the 3rd class book coming up to Christmas we will move on to Unit 16 this week and complete activities A and B today. See translations below. Learn the first 4 spellings today.

- Do you remember when I taught the 4th class a trick to help them with their x9 tables? Well now it is your turn. Watch the video below to learn the trick. It is useful for the tables up to 10×9=
- This week we are going to jump ahead to the 2D shapes chapter in Planet Maths as we feel this will be a nice topic for you to do from home.
First, play this shape game to revise what you already know.
- Now you can take a look at page 119 and do B and C orally.
- Next turn to page 120. It tells you that a heXagon has siX sides. A good way to remember this is that both words contain an X. All regular hexagons look the same but irregular hexagons can look very different. Complete activity A. Do B1 orally and do B2 in your Maths copy.
4th Class

Spellings for both classes
- This week we will continue to work our way through 100 commonly misspelled words. The next 10 words are as follows.
Swimming, first, were, than, two, let’s, mother, another, through, some
Sometimes people get mixed up between where and were. Where means ‘what place’. Your spelling this week is were which is the past tense of are.
Eg. The girls were happy to see us.
‘Let’s’ is a contraction (short for) ‘let us’. The apostrophe shows where the missing ‘u’ belongs.
Eg. Let’s go to the match on Saturday.
3rd Class
- We will do Starlight, Unit 10a this week which you will find on p.110. This is a report. Read p.110-112. Read some of the piece out loud for someone at home. Complete E on p. 114. Read the instructions carefully. You can write out the correct word for each one rather than the whole sentence.
4th Class
- We will do Starlight, Unit 10a this week which you will find on p.110. This is a report. Read p.110-112. Read some of the piece out loud for someone at home. Complete E on p. 114. Read the instructions carefully and then read the paragraph and figure out which conjunctions fit. You do not need to write this paragraph out. Now complete the three sentences in the second part. Write these out in your copy.
P.E.
It’s P.E. day again, so your final task for today is to do some exercise. Just like last week, the choice is yours. You can go back and find the links to Joe Wicks’ YouTube channel or GoNoodle. Here is the link to the videos from Cork GAA again.
If you would like to try something different today, then take out your skipping rope! Skipping is brilliant exercise. It definitely gets your heart rate up and increases your fitness. It is also good for coordination and great fun!
Ask you parents or grandparents if they can remember any skipping games or rhymes that they used to enjoy.
Have a great day!
Friday, 22/1/’21
Good morning everyone,
In advance of our Zoom call later, please look at this poster which outlines some rules for the call. I am looking forward to seeing those of you who can make it today. If it is not possible for you to join us this week, don’t worry, there will be another opportunity.
Today we will start with a test just like we would in school on a Friday. Take out your January Copy and rule it as you would for a test. Over the first column write Gaeilge (watch the spelling) and on the other write English. Test your self on the 12 Irish and 10 English spellings that you learned this week using the Look, Say, Write, Cover, Check method. First look at the word and say it, next, cover it up. Try to write it. Now check to see if you got it right. If you did, give yourself a tick. If not, try again. Everyone should get full marks this week, if it takes a few tries that is quite alright.

Treat yourself to some time playing your favourite game, watching your favourite tv programme, playing with your pet or eating your favourite food. Ask a parent if you can help them with anything today to make their day a little bit easier. You could unload the dishwasher, tidy your room or make lunch for everyone. Being kind to yourself and others cheers everyone up!
Have a good day today,
Ms. Flanagan

Another reminder this week that many people find daily prayer or mindfulness helpful and comforting. You will find many prayers starting at page 100 of your Grow in Love book. You could read or recite some of these. You could also just close your eyes and talk to God.
This week have a look at pages 43-45 of your Grow in Love book. Read about agreements and the story about Moses at Mount Sinai. Talk to a parent about the first three commandments and see if you can memorise them.
Parents- You can access the Grow in Love resources by following the instructions below.
Below are some playful, yet mindful activities that it might be nice to do for fun but can also be used as calming techniques when needed.
Enjoy the rest of your day today. I look forward to hearing from you.

Good morning to you all,
Ms. Barrett, Ms. Daly and I would like to thank you for your continued engagement and for submitting your work. My email address is c.flanagan@upperglanmirens.ie and I continue to be available to answer any questions or to help with any difficulties you might be having to do with the workload or distance learning in general.

Both Classes:
- We will continue with the theme of Siopadóireacht today. Have a conversation using the vocabulary in your hardback copy. Why not try recording yourself today. If you wish you can send it on to me but listening to yourself is also a good way to see how you are getting on. If you are in 3rd class your comhrá (conversation) can be set in a shop, if you are in 4th class, challenge yourself and try a comhrá (conversation) where one person is giving directions to another.
3rd Class:
- Take another look on the poster on pages 72 & 73 of Abair Liom. Engage with the resources that go with the poster again today. Repitition will help your learning. Listen to the story, play the game and see if you can answer the questions orally. Click ANSEO to find the resources you will need.
- Look at p. 78, Section H in Abair Liom today. Write each word in full. First, have a look and see if you know any already. Then find any tricky ones in your hardback copy or on page 72 or 73 in Abair Liom. Try to learn any of the words you did not already know.
- Fuaimeanna & Focail Unit 14 and complete activities F, G today. Learn the last 4 spellings today.

Here are the answers for yesterday’s MYM so that you can correct them yourself as you would in school. If you do not understand where you went wrong, you can email myself or Ms. Barrett for help.
- Tables x6: Begin by counting up to 72 in 6s as quickly as you can. Ask somebody to time you or time yourself doing this. Use Hit the Button or your tables book to learn and practise the tables. Complete Table Toppers p. 17, Day 3.
https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/hit-the-button
- Click here to play a game that will help you to convert (change) metres to centimetres
- Look at p. 82 in PM. You know that 1metre = 100 centimetres so after playing the game and looking at the examples in the book, you should be able to do A 1 and 2. In 2 (b) 8m + 1cm = 800cm + 1cm, so the answer is 801cm. Keep this in mind when you are doing (g) also.

Reading for Pleasure
I have added all of the children in our 3rd and 4th class to a website called EPIC! This is a free online digital reading platform. Parents should have received a code via email in the last couple of days that you can use to log in and find your profile. Ask a parent to help you with this. Today I would like you to explore the website. You can browse or look for specific books. The site also has audio books and short educational videos. Choose at least one book or audiobook to read or listen to today. I will be able to see from the website how you are getting on. Parents- I hope that there will not be too many emails from this site. If you would prefer not to receive them, feel free to unsubscribe.
If you have the opportunity today, watch some of the tv coverage of the American presidential inauguration. I know a lot of you were interested in the American election back in November. As Epic is an American website, there are some books about American presidents and politics available if you are interested in learning more.
Enjoy the rest of your day!
Tuesday 19/1/’21
Good morning again everyone,
I hope the school work went ok yesterday. We will continue in a similar way today. Remember that the learning, reading and oral work are just as important as the written work so give plenty of time to those activities too! I’m sorry that I posted the wrong page number for the Starlight written activity yesterday but most of you figured out which was the correct one to do. Your parents may have received emails from a reading website. I am currently setting our class up with an account. Tell your parents that they do not have to do anything at the moment and I will give more details in tomorrow’s post. My email address is c.flanagan@upperglanmirens.ie
Keep up the good work this week,

Monday 18/2/’21
Good morning everyone,
Welcome to another week of online learning and well done to you all for taking part last week. It was so nice to hear your voices and see your faces in the Zoom call. Let’s try to do that again at the end of this week. Just like last week, every day I will give you a little bit of work in Irish, English and Maths. This will be followed by some work in one other area. Every day read through the work and decide what you would like to do first. Spend some time getting organised before you get started. Work carefully through each task, taking breaks when needed for a run around, a chat or a snack. Some of the work is for both classes and some is marked ‘3rd Class’ or ‘4th class’ so read carefully. You should be able to do most of the work yourself. I have added some links and videos that might help. My email address is c.flanagan@upperglanmirens.ie and you or your parents can email me your work for help or feedback.
Keep up the good work this week,

It’s P.E. day again, so your final task for today is to do some exercise and get your heart rate up! Just like last week, the choice is yours. You can go back and find the links to Joe Wicks’ YouTube channel or GoNoodle. Alternatively, you could explore some of the videos that Cork GAA have posted to help children stay active and practise their skills during lockdown.
Of course you can also chat to your family and see if they have any ideas for an activity that you could all do together today or later this evening.
Enjoy the rest of your day!
Friday, 15/1/’21
Good morning everyone,
In advance of our Zoom call later, please look at this poster which outlines some rules for the call. I am looking forward to seeing those of you who can make it today. If it isn’t possible for your family this week, don’t worry, there will be other opportunities.

If you have not yet finished, continue with your Recount writing or oral report today. I will repost the instructions below. I look forward to seeing (or hearing) your recount next week.
I want you to tell me about your Christmas break. You can choose to tell me about the whole break or pick your favourite day or event that happened over the Christmas. Make sure to make a rough plan or brainstorm of what you want to include before you start.
You can send your story to me in any way you choose. Here are some ideas on how to send it:
- write your recount in your copy, take a picture and email it to me.
- type a story on your computer
- create a short video of you telling the story (you could use iMovie/capcut/inshot)
- create a short video using pictures you took over the break. You can type in short sentences to go with your pictures or you can inset voice clips telling me about the picture.
- make a voice recording of your recount piece.
- create a comic strip or drawings telling me your story.
Art:
Usually in January we would start the Construction Strand of the Visual Art curriculum. Today you are going to design your dream bedroom and start making it using construction materials. You could use Lego, bricks or blocks or you could make it using an old shoe box and some little boxes and pieces of card. Look around your house and see what you have to work with. Here are some pictures to inspire you.
When you have decided on your idea, draw out a plan and then begin to create. Take your time with this activity. You can start it today and maybe work on it over the weekend and into next week.
Have a lovely weekend!
Thursday, 14/1/’21
Good morning again everyone,
I hope you are all well and ready for some more schoolwork. It has been a busy week so far and I hope you are managing to make time to talk to your friends and to do nice things with your family. Again, my email address is c.flanagan@upperglanmirens.ie for submitting work or if you have any questions.
Ms. Flanagan
Irish:
- Both classes can continue to practise Comhrá today. Maybe you could try some of the phrases without using your copy. It is important that you do this out loud and with a friend or family member if possible. I will attach links to the videos from Tuesday and Wednesday to help you.

3rd Class:
- Fuaimeanna & Focail Unit 13 and complete H on page 42 today. Use the ‘Féach, Abair, Clúdaigh, Scríobh agus Seiceáil’ method to test yourself at the end of p. 42. To do this you must look at the word and say it, cover it, write it and check it. If you get it wrong, try again.
- Have a look at p. 76 in Abair Liom. You can do section D orally. How many sentences can you say starting with Cheannaigh mé (I bought)? Make sure you are buying things in the correct shop!
- Section E shows the regular verbs ceannaigh (to buy) and bailigh (to collect or gather). In the Aimsir Chaite (past tense) these verbs get a h so ‘Cheannaigh Mamaí’ means ‘Mammy bought’/ ‘Níor cheannaigh Mamaí’ means ‘Mammy did not buy’ and ‘Ar cheannaigh Mamaí’ means ‘Did Mammy buy?’ Give it a try and don’t forget the h!
4th Class:
- Fuaimeanna & Focail Unit 13 and complete H on page 42 today. Use the ‘Féach, Abair, Clúdaigh, Scríobh agus Seiceáil’ method to test yourself at the end of p. 42. To do this you must look at the word and say it, cover it, write it and check it. If you get it wrong, try again.
- Today you are going to read a short story as Gaeilge, ‘An Baile Mór’. Play the game below and see if you know some of the tricky vocab before you read the story.
https://wordwall.net/play/9333/614/975
Now, you can listen to Ms. Fogarty reading it, then you can try it yourself. Play the video back to listen to any tricky words you come across.

- This term in the Building Bridges programme I had hoped that we would do the Questioning Watch and listen to the story below. You may need to watch it more than once to understand it. The boy in the story had three questions which were answered in the story. What do you wonder about as you listen to the story? Does the author answer your questions or are you left wondering at the end? Play the story for an adult in your house or an older brother or sister. What do they think of the story?

Religion/ SPHE:
While the school is closed it might be helpful to take some time to pray or practise mindfulness. We like to do both in school. You will find many prayers starting at page 100 of your Grow in Love book. You could read or recite some of these. You could also just close your eyes and talk to God. Parents- the smiling mind app is free and has some meditations that are suitable for young children.
This week have a look at pages 41-42 of your Grow in Love book. Read about Moses in Egypt and how he responded to God’s call.
Parents- You can access the Grow in Love resources by following the instructions below.
Enjoy the rest of your day today. I look forward to hearing from you.

Here is a video to help with pronounciation. You can also take another look at yesterday’s video.

Extra Activity: Recount Writing
Take your time with this activity, you can start it today and work on it when you have some free time. I do not expect you to submit it until the end of the week or maybe even next week. I know there are some talented writers and storytellers in the class and I look forward to seeing and hearing your work.
Enjoy the rest of your day!

Good morning to you all!
I am very disappointed that we are not in our lovely classroom this morning. I would love to be hearing all the news about your Christmas break, but for now, this is what we have to do to keep everybody safe. Every day I will give you a little bit of work in Irish, English and Maths. This will be followed by some work in one other area (today it’s PE 😊). Read through the work and decide what you would like to do first. Some of the work is for both classes and some is marked ‘3rd Class’ or ‘4th class’ so read carefully. I have sent a message to your parents saying that you should have 2 ‘January Copies’, one for Maths and one for all other work. If you had spare copies in school I put them into your box. You should be able to do most of the work yourself. I have added some links and videos that might help. My email address is c.flanagan@upperglanmirens.ie and you or your parents can email me your work for help or feedback.
Hope it all goes well today,
Ms. Flanagan

Below are some suggestions but talk to your family and find an activity you can do for at least 60 minutes that will suit everyone. You could play outside in the garden or go for a long, fast walk or run.

The video below shows photos of just some of the activities we have been enjoying since the return to school. Happy Christmas to all of the families of 3rd/ 4th class. Looking forward to seeing you in January.
Six of the children in 4th class decided to create projects for the Cork Schools’ Heritage Project 2021. The theme this year is ‘Living Through History’ and although all three projects are very different they all manage to make history real and relevant for children today. Our class had the pleasure of hearing Sadie and Julia telling us about their research on the Shandon Bells, Ethan and Robert telling us all about the history of Cork City FC and Maria and Lily informing us about their research into the Butter Museum and the history of butter production in Cork. Their models will be on display in our classroom and below you will see some photos and a video of their work and presentations. Well done to all!
