Our Student Council.
Welcome to our Student council page.
The first student council in Upper Glanmire was established in 2015. We decided that the role of the Student Council is to:
- provide an opportunity for pupils have their opinions heard and offer suggestions in relation to many aspects of school life.
- discuss issues relevant to the school and encourage and promote initiatives from the pupils.
- act as a channel for communication for the pupils within the school , between pupils and between home and school.
- provide an opportunity to raise funds for charities
Below we will keep you updated with events, pictures and details as the year progresses.
Crazy Hair Day
The student council this year should be very proud of the very successful Crazy Hair Day held this year. Over €500 was raised on the day. A huge thank you to everyone for their contributions.

Here are some of the creative ideas the junior classes created for crazy hair day:
This year the senior pupils of Scoil Naomh Micheal elected the first Student Council to our school. The council was elected in March by separate class votes. The council is made up of two students from 4th, 5th and 6th class. Their term of office will run from September to June. The student council will add to our schools life and have already held a very successful jersey day to raise money for new equipment during yard time. They have many new ideas and fundraising opportunities that they look forward to trying out next year. Those elected to the student council learn both leadership and team work skills and are very proud of their student council badges and the responsibility that comes with them.
This year’s student council are:
4th class: Cliodhna Millard and Daniel O Keeffe
5th class: Aisling Mc Allen and Stephen Whooley
6th class: David O Connell and Cian O Leary
