This morning we said thank you to Joe our caretaker who left us after nearly 9 years service. Joe was well loved in our school. He knew every child in the school on a first name basis. He will be truly missed.
He left with a fantastic message for our children – “It’s nice to be important, but it’s more important to be nice”. Thanks Joe!
Thank you to our Parents’ Association for their cheque worth €2214 raised at their Coffee Morning at Halloween. They presented Mr. O’Connell this morning and the money will be used for upgrading IT equipment in our school.
The children of junior and senior infants were visited by Dr. Quinlan last week. He told us about his job and allowed the children to use his instruments. The children had a great time. You can see more pictures of his visit and the Aistear programme in the pages on the infant classes through the menu above.
Well done to Harry Buckley in Rang 5 on winning 2nd prize in the recent Credit Union Art Fest. As you can see below, Harry is a talented artist and one to watch for the future!
On Tuesday, November 18th, our new Green School Committee had their first meeting. As you may be aware, our school has already been awarded three green flags for the themes of Litter & Waste, Global Citizenship and Energy.
The theme we will be working on for the next two years is Water. This is certainly a topical issue and we look forward to learning a lot about our consumption of Water and how this impacts the environment.
Our new committee members are as follows: Ms. N. O’Halloran, Ms. C. Flanagan, Mr. Fergal Manley (Dad of Kate in second class), Kaelan Skillington (6th), Jack O’Callaghan (6th), Amy Cashman (5th), Erin Kelleher (5th), Ellie Twomey (3rd). Daniel O’Keeffe is our 4th class committee member but was not present for the photo. There were lots of exciting ideas put forward at our meeting and we look forward to sharing them with you soon!
Well done to our boys and girls teams on their fantastic campaigns in Sciath na Scol this year. Today in Páirc Uí Chaoimh our boys won their final, however our girls, despite a great performance, fell just short.
We are extremely proud of our two teams today. They were a great credit to our school!
A huge thank you to their great coaches this year. Mr Scanlon, Mr. O’Sullivan, Ms. Healy and Ms. O’Halloran put great time and effort into coaching the teams. Thanks to Finbarr for all his help, and thanks to White’s Cross GAA for their support too!
You can see more pictures in our Sport section of our site, and there are more pictures to follow.
This morning Jamie from Team Hope collected our shoeboxes. Well done to everyone who brought in a box. Big thanks to Mr. O’Sullivan for all his organisation!
There are more pictures in the General News section.
Unfortunately due to the bad weather, the Sciath na Scol finals due to be played today have been postponed. They have been rescheduled for Monday at 12pm and 1pm in Páirc Ui Chaoimh.
We have updated the Health Information area of our website to keep you informed of illnesses and diseases that may spread in schools, and how you can manage them should the need arise. You can also look at an excellent website, http://www.patient.co.uk, which answers a lot more queries that parents and families may have.
