Hello all,

The homework below is for today and tomorrow.

Gaeilge: Learn the names and meanings of all 22 verbs in the picture below. We have been working on this since our return to school so the children are very familiar with them and have been learning them. No need to worry about the Aimsir Chaite just yet, just the first two columns on the page.

https://www.folensonline.ie/home/library/programmes/abair-liom-3rd-class/ebook/ – go to page 182 or use the picture below.

S.E.S.E. (History): We have been learning about family history in History this week. The children enjoyed exploring the census website. Take some time over the next two days to search for family members from the past. Follow the link below and click on the search census tab to get started.

Good morning,

I hope you are all well. I am looking forward to seeing those of you who can make it on our Zoom call today. We will have a few questions, play a game and there will be time for a chat at the end so have a think about what you might like to say.

Your work is below. You will notice that I have reduced the workload slightly today. I will be giving a very small amount tomorrow. This will allow you some time to prepare for the return to school on Monday. I have emailed the invitation to the Zoom call to your parents and I have also asked them not to email the written work for today and tomorrow. We will go over it in school instead. I will be heading up to school tomorrow after our call to get the classroom ready for your return.

Good morning everyone,

Not long now until we are back in the classroom again. I will schedule our last Zoom meeting for tomorrow at 12. I will send the invitation to your parents this afternoon on Aladdin as usual. Your work for today is below in pdf format. I have reposted the SESE/ SPHE lesson today as there is a lot of reading in it and three activities to be completed.

Thank you for your photos and videos again yesterday. I received another couple of your obstacle course videos. They look brilliant! We will have great fun watching them on Monday and Tuesday. I have shared some of the other photos and videos. Ethan and Tadhg tried the crafts from the Starlight reading and oral language lessons this week and last week. More signs of Spring in photos of crows building nests and some lovely crocuses. Holly and Sadie were busy measuring and sent a video and photos of their work. It was Maria’s brother’s birthday so she helped to make him a birthday cake! Finally Sam sent on his first attempt at the egg drop, watch below to see how he got on!

Good morning again,

Thank you for all of your emails and photos to myself, Ms. Barrett and Ms. Daly. You are certainly keeping the enthusiasm and momentum going in this final week of distance learning. Your work today is below. There is an S.E.S.E./ S.P.H.E. lesson that I will post as your extra subject again tomorrow so feel free to spread it over two days.

Today you will see videos of 2 egg drop attempts sent in by Holly and Jaymie. I also got videos from Tom Kelleher and Robert which are very large files so I am having trouble sharing them. I’ll keep working on it though. Clara and Ethan were busy building two very different towers. Clara’s measured 2.59m (including the vase on top). Clara also sent a picture of a collection of containers for capacity. Maria shared pictures of some smartie cookies that she baked on Friday, a capacity display that she made and check out her step count from Sunday! I also saw two very impressive obstacle courses. I won’t share those just yet but keep them coming, the closing date for the competition is Friday.

Have a nice day everyone,

Good morning everyone,

It is Julia’s birthday today. Happy birthday Julia, have a wonderful day!

I hope you all enjoyed the weekend and the nice Spring weather. I don’t think the forecast is too good for this week so get out as much as you can today. Below you will find your work for today. Only one week to go so let’s keep the standards high and the momentum going. Read your work carefully today, there is a prize on offer this week!

I have also shared some photos and videos. You will see Clara, Jamie and Tadhg showing their skills as engineers. Would you believe that Jurgen Klopp called to Ethan’s house to bake brownies for the family? What a nice man (pity about yesterday’s result)! Don’t believe me? I have the photos to prove it! I also received some lovely pictures of work from World Book Day from Lily, Rebecca, Holly and Tadhg. Ethan sent a picture of his game of  Higher/ Lower, Maria tried one of the art ideas from Starlight this week and Tadhg spotted another ‘sign of spring’ and designed a parachute for Engineers Week. Phew! Well done everyone and keep those photos, emails and videos coming for the final week.

Good morning again everyone,

Firstly, I would like to wish Amy a very Happy Birthday! Have a wonderful day Amy and enjoy the celebrations with your family.

I loved looking through your photographs and videos yesterday. If you haven’t already started your project for Engineers Week, you might get some inspiration below by watching the videos. The Egg Drop is very popular!

I will be getting in touch with your parents this afternoon to share the invitation to our Zoom meeting which will take place tomorrow at 12. If you would like to bring your favourite book, that would be lovely. Dressing up as a character from a book is optional.

Your work for today is below followed by pictures of Jaymie and Clara with more signs of Spring, some pictures of Maria’s delicious looking baking and Tadhg’s finished project all about Brazil. Check out some pictures and videos of Rebecca and Sadie’s engineering experiments. They both chose the egg drop but used different materials.

Good morning,

Thank you for your emails to myself, Ms. Barrett and Ms. Daly yesterday. It looks like a lot of you got out and about in the dry weather yesterday and spotted plenty of signs of Spring.

Don’t forget the David Walliams’ Assembly at 10:30 this morning. Scroll down to the English section and click on the picture to access the assembly at 10:30. We might chat about it on our Zoom call on Thursday. I have posted details of an SESE project for Engineers week today also. That will be your extra activity tomorrow too and you do not need to submit it until next Monday. So take your time, have a little think about which task you would like to do and gather your resources.

The pdfs of your work are below and I have lots of photos for you today. Holly, Maria, Noah, Karl, Rory and Daniel all spotted signs of Spring yesterday. Holly followed the procedure in Starlight and made her own totem pole. Sadie finished her project on France. Tadhg sent a picture of his tower and his ‘stripes’ self-portrait. Check out Maria’s dog, Cookie looking very cute. Finally you will see a short video of Jaymie counting up in 12s.

Good morning,

Here we are in Week 8 of learning and working from home. Hopefully we will be back together again in two weeks time.

This Thursday (March 4th) is World Book Day. To celebrate, we will be having a book themed Zoom. Come along dressed as a character from a book if you can. Today, start thinking about what you will wear! Shopping is not possible at the moment, so be creative with what you have at home. Bring along a copy of your favourite book if you can so that you can tell your friends all about it. To celebrate World Book Day, David Walliams is holding an assembly tomorrow at 10:30. I’ve registered us for this event and I will share the link with you tomorrow.

Below is your work today, not too much writing to be done but please spend plenty of time going through the videos, playing the games and doing your learning and reading work. After the links to the work, you will find photos of art work from Julia, Maria, Ethan and Holly. You will also see a picture of the beautiful bird table that Rebecca told us about on the Zoom meeting which was made by her grandad. Clara’s grandad has been busy too and helped her to bake a delicious looking swiss roll a few weeks ago. Finally, you will see a picture of Julia’s brilliant narrative writing.

Have a good day everyone,

Below you will find the links to your work for today, followed by a selection of your photos. You will see some towers, some unfortunate children who have a ‘bad case of stripes’, some baking and some Irish reading. Enjoy!

Have a nice day,

Good morning again,

I hope you are all well despite the weather and are keeping safe, dry and warm. I am sure you heard the news yesterday about the plan for reopening schools. In primary schools, Junior and Senior Infants along with First and Second class will return to school next Monday, March 1st. We will continue to work and learn from home and, all going well, will be back in our classroom on Monday, March 15th. We have two and a half weeks left of being at home so let’s try to stay positive and keep up the great work and learning that has been happening so far. You will find the pdfs with today’s work below followed by some pictures. Maria was busy yesterday, she managed to build a tower measuring 64cm as well as baking some delicious looking buns. Aoibhe’s tower (The Leaning Tower of Ros Ard) measures almost a metre! I will also post pictures of Ethan’s character mind map and an illustration from his story. He will read the full story for the class when we return to school. You can also see a video of Holly doing a great job of reading her Irish poem and finally another cute picture of Robert’s dog Joey. Enjoy!

Have a good day,

Ms. Flanagan

Good morning everyone,

Thank you for your participation in the Zoom meeting yesterday. It was great fun! It was a pity we got cut off before everyone got a chance to share their favourite toppings but we might start with that on our next Zoom for those who didn’t get a chance. Below you will find your work for today (I tried to keep it short and sweet). I have also included some pictures of Tadhg’s art, some photos of Clara’s Valentines cards and pancakes and a video of Maria’s pancake flipping skills. On behalf of myself, Ms. Barrett and Ms. Daly, I would like to say a big thank you and well done to all of you and your parents for all of the hard work over the last 6 weeks. You all deserve a rest and I hope you’ll do something nice for anybody who has been helping you with your schoolwork at home.

Have a lovely day,

Good morning,

I hope you all had a great weekend and enjoyed Valentine’s Day yesterday. This is Week 6 of online learning and we can enjoy Pancake Tuesday this week as well as a little break towards the end of the week with Thursday and Friday off for midterm. Because of this, we will have our Zoom meeting tomorrow at 12. I will send the invitation to your parents this afternoon via Aladdin. I would like you to have a clean, dry frying pan and something to help you practise your flipping! You could have a small, soft toy or ball, a beanbag or even a thin paperback book. At the end of the call we will share some topping ideas so think about some delicious or unusual pancake toppings that you can tell your friends about. I look forward to seeing you if you can make it. The work is a little bit different this week. You will not be working from the books and workbooks as much but I would ask that you do your best at every task as usual. Links to the pdfs are below, followed by some pictures of last week’s work.

Have a lovely day,

Ms. Flanagan

Good morning to you all,

It was so nice to see and hear some of you last week on the Zoom calls. Thank you all so much and thanks to your parents for setting it up. I have received some wonderful PowerPoints, pictures and videos of your projects, they were all very impressive. This week I will attach two separate pdfs for the schoolwork each day, one for all of the 3rd class work and one for all of the 4th class work. Each day I will also include pictures that you sent me of some of your work from last week. If you don’t see your pictures today, I will include them later in the week. I hope this new system will be a bit more user friendly.

Have a good day today,

Ms. Flanagan
