Did you know that butter is made from cream?

We found that out when we changed cream into butter. We started with a little cream in a jar. Each group had their own jars and added a drop of yellow food colouring before they started shaking to make sure their butter was the right colour.

Then the fun part . . .

We had to shake and shake and shake. We could feel the cream starting to change as we shook it.

A good scientist will always test their work so we spread our butter on crackers and biscuits. Some people thought it was just as nice as butter, others preferred their store bought butter and some even thought their own handmade butter was nicer then anything they had ever tasted.
